When discussion turns to European vacation destinations, we’re sure you hear about how delightful Paris, Rome, London and Venice are. Today, Up & Away Travel in Pembroke Pines would love to offer some reasons to visit Berlin instead this 2015. The German capital has a rich and storied history, but that’s far from all it offers.

Breathtaking sights

From the 368-meter high Television Tower that looms over the city to the classically beautiful Brandenburg Gate, Berlin is not short of spectacular sights. Make sure to pay a visit to the Reichstag, not only to appreciate its history, but to appreciate the beauty of the building and its impressive glass dome, designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster in the late ‘90s. Of course, you need to pay a visit to the remains of the Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery, too, not to mention visits to the Berlin Cathedral, Botanischer Garten, Checkpoint Charlie, Jewish Museum, Kulturforum....

Culinary delights

Berlin offers dining experiences to rival those of any European capital, even if German food isn’t spoken of in the same hushed tones as French or Italian cuisine. Multiply Michelin-starred French chef Pierre Gagnaire has a new restaurant in the Waldorf-Astoria in Charlottenburg, offering the best in fine dining. If you’re after something a little more Germanic, try what’s claimed to be the original currywurst (curried sausage) at Krasselts on Steglitzer Damm, or enjoy a döner kebab at any number of grills around town to sample a fusion of German and Turkish food that’ll help you appreciate the city’s status as a multinational, multicultural melting pot.

Unrivalled nightlife

If you’re looking for a night on the tiles, there’s no better place than Berlin; its nightlife has been famous for its excess for decades. Berlin is home to Berghain, regularly called the best club in the world, which regularly hosts events that run for days without stopping. Make sure to get some rest before you visit!

Berlinale International Film Festival 2015

From the 5th to the 15th of February, Berlin will play host to some of the biggest stars in the business (Matt Damon, Hugh Jackman and Meryl Streep were all in attendance last time round) and around 400 movies will be shown as part of the world’s largest film festival.

Festtage 2015

Richard Wagner and Pierre Boulez are the focus of this classical festival, featuring the Vienna Philharmonic, West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Berlin, all conducted by possibly the world’s greatest living conductor of Wagner, Daniel Barenboim.
